Club Awards

Belnorth Football Club awards players and teams yearly for various reasons during the season. There are three award categories:

These awards aim to recognise the player’s achievements, further their playing future with Belnorth FC, and provide development pathways. Belnorth FC members provide the nominations for awards, and the final decision on award winners sits with the Belnorth FC Committee.

Reward and Recognition Awards

These awards provide reward and recognition to Belnorth FC players who have demonstrated high-quality sportsmanship, a positive attitude and a commitment to their game and Belnorth FC.  These awards include reduced fees or the payment of a defined service to which the winner is entitled.

The Mathew Starke Memorial Award is presented to a player who participated under challenging circumstances (disability, sickness or injury).

The winner will receive:

  • an individual trophy
  • free registration to Belnorth FC in the following year

The Peter Desmond Memorial Award is presented to a junior male and female player who displayed above-average ability and commitment.

The winner will receive:

  • an individual trophy free registration to Belnorth FC in the following year
  • free entry to a Belnorth FC coaching programme

The Senior Player of the Year (female and male) receive:

  • an individual trophy
  • free registration to Belnorth FC in the following year

Recognition Only Awards

This category is for those players, volunteers, coaches and teams who demonstrate a commitment to the spirit of football and Belnorth FC. It recognises them for their assistance to Belnorth FC in their endeavour to build a future in football.

The Sue O’Dwyer Memorial Award recognises a team that has shown outstanding commitment, dedication and achievement in promoting the spirit of the game of football and in advancing the development of team members and, therefore, the image and wellbeing of Belnorth FC.

Recognises members who have ten years of accumulative membership playing with the club.

The President awards it to people who have given outstanding service to Belnorth FC during the year.

It is awarded to a player who is heavily involved in the game and with the Club. For example, a player who is a good team member and is also a referee or coach of a Belnorth FC team.

Awarded to a senior club member who has brought great distinction to Belnorth FC and whose efforts to assist with the Club’s activities have been above what is normally expected.

A young person (18 years or younger) junior Belnorth FC player who coaches a junior team and excels in how they coach by raising all players’ skills, confidence, enthusiasm and enjoyment.

A MiniRoos team coach (U5 to U11) who demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment, ensuring all players learn and enjoy the game in a positive and encouraging environment.

A Junior team coach (U12 to U18) who demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment, ensuring all players learn and enjoy the game in a positive and encouraging environment.

This award is for a senior Belnorth FC coach who demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment. They ensure that all players learn and enjoy the game in a positive and encouraging environment.

Life Membership

Life membership is awarded to Belnorth FC members who have contributed significantly to the club over many years. Presentation of this award entitles the recipients to:

  • participate in voting at Belnorth FC General Meetings;
  • participate in football at Belnorth FC with all components of the registration fee waived*

We are currently reviewing the nomination process for Life Membership. However, we still welcome nominations and recommend any nominations include two supporters. You can send nominations to admin@belnorth.org

*Note: if the recipient of life membership has a child under 18 years, they can substitute the registration for one of their children under 18 years. This benefit is not transferable to grandchildren. This applies to any joint (couple/parent) recipients.
