Belnorth Newsletter: Coles MiniRoos Extra Fun, Silent Sidelines Round, Preso Dates, Senior Referees Needed

Coles MiniRoos Pop-Up Stall Visiting, Saturday 8/8

Capital Football are bringing a Coles MiniRoos pop-up stall to Kaleen this Saturday. Along with the stall where they will distribute some Milo from, there will be an inflatable dartboard target for kicking practice and some other skills activities.

It should be a great morning of fun, along with our Silent Sidelines running during games (see more about that below). The focus this Saturday will definitely be all about the kids this Saturday!

Silent Sidelines this weekend, 8th & 9th of August 🤫🍭

Belnorth will have a Silent Sidelines weekend for all teams U5 to U18 along with Seniors and Masters on the 8th and 9th of August.

What is Silent Sidelines?

Silent Sidelines is an initiative to encourage parents and spectators to be completely silent, aside from supportive clapping.

Empowering players to think for themselves, communicate effectively with their teammates, demonstrate leadership, and to apply pre-game instructions from their coaches.

Equally vital is giving match officials the best environment to do their jobs, free from distractions and abuse.

Spectators Can:

  • Clap
  • Cheer
  • Suck on a lollipop
  • Use signs, pom-poms, or flags
  • Silent crowd wave
  • Dress up
  • Sit back & relax

Spectators Can’t:

  • Shout out instructions
  • Single out players for criticism or instructions
  • Call or shout out to coaches
  • Call or shout out to match officials

Coaches: Trust your coaching up to this point and keep instructions to a minimum during the game. Try to limit coaching to half-time breaks. Let the players make their own decisions during games without sideline distractions.

Teams that have a bye on the 8/8 and 9/8 can do the Silent Sidelines the following weekend.

We encourage teams to plan and be creative on how they silently support on the sidelines. Teams may wish to buy extra lollies for their players, in case there are envious looks during games. We look forward to seeing how teams approach the weekend!

U10 to U18 Fixtures

To assist members with game day planning/logistics, we have shared a list of future Belnorth draft fixtures. This will be updated manually every week.

Unfortunately, it will not be a complete list, as there are away fixtures that the home club needs to allocate a ground/field. We do not have visibility of these missing fixtures. If your team is missing a fixture for a certain round, assume you are playing away and plan accordingly.

For immediately upcoming home fixtures, please refer to the Net Duty Document, usually updated on Mondays/Tuesdays before the Saturday.
