Farewell 2022, Hello 2023!

Farewell 2022

As the year draws to a close, we say farewell to 2022.

2022 saw a winter season from start to finish, albeit a wet one. We saw the return of the Kanga Cup after a two-year absence, where Belnorth continued its unbroken involvement. It was also a year when we held presentations for our Juniors and Seniors.

The full year brought the challenge of juggling a long list of tasks that were often new to volunteers or that they hadn’t done for a whileTeamworkthinking on their feet, and commitment from volunteers got the club through the year!

Unfortunately, farewelling 2022 also means the departure of a couple of key people from their roles at the club. Esperance, our Technical Director, won’t be continuing in the position in 2023, so she can concentrate on her study. Also taking a step back are a few committee members, Kayannie Denigan and Frank CatanzaritiKayannie, who has been on the committee for the past four years, first as SSG Registrar, then VP, and finally as President, will be a footballer in 2023 with the mighty Quokkas. Frank, the SSG Registrar for the past two yearswill be a football parent to his two daughters. Thank you, Kayannie, Frank and Esperance, for your service to the club!

We thank all our volunteerscoaches, managers, and referees for their work in 2022 and look forward to them coming back next year.

We wish all our members a happy festive season with family and friends, with hopefully a lovely break!

Welcome, 2023!

Behind the scenes, the wheels are in motion for 2023.

New goals for U5 to U7 have been ordered for winter deployment. These goals won’t fall apart with a light breeze. We are also looking to refresh the U5 to U9 jerseys and make merchandise available to members.

We have had meetings with Belconnen United FC and our sister clubs, Belsouth and Belwest, to improve the pathways for players, particularly girls. We hope to have more information in the new year.

Registrations will open in early January once registration fees have been finalised. Grading for U10 to U18 will be early in 2023 due to tighter deadlines for team nominations, and the first grading date will likely be Saturday, the 4th of February.

With the dust settling on the Men’s World Cup, the excitement is building for the Women’s World Cup in Australia. The whole football community should be excited by the staging of this event in our backyard. We can’t wait!

Working Bees in January

The club will be holding working bees in January to prepare for the 2023 winter season. We will organise Junior and Senior bee hives. We would love to have you along to help out.

Please email us at admin@belnorth.org to put your hand up.
