Team Kit Returns
With the conclusion of the winter season fast approaching, it’s time for teams to think about kit returns. We ask players and parents, after their last game to clean their jerseys and give them to their coach or manager to return to the club.
All kit returns will be at Kaleen Play Fields.
For the U5-U15 age groups, kit returns will happen on the morning of the 17th of September.
For U16, U18 and senior teams, they can bring their kits (jerseys, balls, bibs and other equipment) to Kaleen Playing Fields during Saturday game day on the 3rd and 10th of September, or the morning of the 17th of September.
Santo makes the ACT Schoolboys Team
Congratulations to Santo Barilla on making the U12 ACT Schoolboys team that will head to Perth for the National School Sport Championships in October. Belnorth FC have provided some financial assistance for his participation. Read about Santo’s football journey below, as told by his father, Joe.
Santo began playing soccer 6 years ago for Belnorth U6s. Every season, every Saturday rain, hail or sunshine for the next six years it was never a maybe, but a necessity. Santo has to play soccer.
Santo currently plays for Belnorth U12 Taipans, with a great group of boys he proudly calls his friends and coaches who have helped him grow over the past few years. A highlight for this year, is the 17 goals Santo has scored in 13 games helping his team achieve 4th place on the ladder (and the season isn’t over yet).
Saturdays are the pinnacle of Santo’s week, after spending hours in the backyard or practicing with friends at the local fields, it was only natural for Santo to want to trial for ACT schoolboys. He had never seen trials like these, only familiar with Belnorth grading. At ACT almost 100 boys trialled for two weeks. By week three only 36 boys came back by invite only. A week later he was shortlisted for the last 20… and finally he was offered one of the 14 places on the team to travel to Perth to represent the ACT at the National schoolboys championships.
Santo proudly attends training for ACT as the only player from Belnorth, all the while playing hard for Taipans every weekend!
