Photography & Videoing Guidelines

Taking Images and Videos

Capital Football requests that all Members, wherever possible, obtain permission from other Members or a Child’s parent/guardian before taking a photographic image and ensure that the member or parent/guardian knows how the image will be used.

To respect people’s privacy camera phones, video cameras and cameras cannot be used inside changing areas, showers and toilets. Any use of a camera phone, video camera or camera in these areas should be reported to Belnorth FC and/or if any criminal activity is suspected, reported to the Police.

If a Member captures or uses an image or video of another member or  Child, the Member should ensure that:

  • where practicable and unless they are the Child’s parent, guardian or carer, they have consent from the Member or Child’s parent, guardian or carer, and are legally permitted to take such photos or videos;
  • the image is appropriate and relevant to football;
  • the context is directly related to participation in Football Activities;
  • the photograph or video is taken in the presence of other Members, in particular, other adults; and
  • the Member or Child is suitably clothed in a manner that promotes or celebrates the sport.

Use and Storage of Images and Videos

Any image or video footage of any Football Activity, such as training or a Match, must be used appropriately and only in a manner that directly relates to the participation in football. Unless the Member or parent, guardian or carer (as applicable) of a Child provides express written consent, Members must:

  • avoid naming or identifying the Child (unless exceptional circumstances apply);
  • not display any personal information such as residential address, email address or telephone numbers; and
  • not display information about hobbies, likes/dislikes, school, etc as this information can be used as Grooming tools by paedophiles or other opportunistic persons.

Photos/videos of Members or Children should only be used or displayed, such as being exhibited on a website, a social media platform or in publications such an annual report, with parental, guardian or carer’s (as applicable) knowledge and approval. Such images may be presented in a manner that de-identifies the Child. Any caption or accompanying text should be reviewed prior to publication and should ensure that it does not identify a Child, particularly as such identification may be detrimental. A suitable practice may be to only ever use the first name of a Child, and not include any other identifying information, such as an individual’s surname.

All images or videos of Children must be stored securely and safely, which prevents unauthorised access. This could include storing printed images, or devices on which photographs or video recordings are stored in locked drawers, or electronic copies of photos and videos in password protected folders. Members should only retain or store photos or videos of a Child or Children for the period and purpose for which the photo or video was taken and should be securely destroyed when no longer required.

Football Australia Member Protection Framework: Safeguarding Policy

Smoking and Alcohol

Smoking is prohibited at all Junior matches and training. It is also prohibited within 10 metres of the change rooms, spectator amenities and canteen facilities.

The consumption of alcohol is not permitted during any Junior matches.

Smoking is prohibited at Senior matches within 10 metres of the the field of play, change rooms, spectator amenities and canteen facilities.

Alcohol consumption at Senior games requires prior approval. If there is approval, there is to be no alcohol consumption in the vicinity of technical areas. No glass containers are to be used for alcohol or other beverages.

No Dogs allowed at Sportsgrounds

We know members love them, but dogs are not allowed at ACT Sportsgrounds during training and games.

So please keep the members of your fur family at home.

There are fines for taking dogs to prohibited areas.

Let’s talk about parking!

Unfortunately, we are still getting complaints from local residents about illegal, dangerous and destructive parking at Kaleen on Saturdays.

We have requested that locals report illegal parking to help curb these inconsiderate practices. We also encourage members to report any illegal parking that they see to help stop the unsafe parking that endangers members especially children.

With only 259 parking spots via Birie and Turon Place, parking is at a premium at Kaleen. On-street parking is available, but please be respectful of local residents and park safely/legally.

Parking inspectors regularly patrol the vicinity of sports grounds to support safe parking. You can be fined for parking a vehicle:

  • On a footpath
  • On a nature strip or roadside verge
  • On the wrong side of the road and not in the direction of travel

A parking hack at Kaleen worth considering. Instead of looking for spots on or off Diamantina Cres, try parking on the other side of the stormwater drain along Wakool CctCampaspe CctFlorentine Cct or Tyrrell Cct.

Otherwise, consider carpooling or riding a bike to Kaleen.

Do you know your Playing Rules?

From under 6 to over 55, playing rules and formats differ.

Check out the link below for more information about the different age groups.

What about U5s? U5 have no formal playing format or rules, but the U6 and U7 standards are a good guide with slightly smaller fields and shorter game times.

Coaching tips for U5-U9 and beyond

A reminder to coaches and parents, it’s important to emphasise to kids the goals is to have fun and to play in a safe and fair way.

If a team is winning comfortably, the team coach should challenge his players to complete three passes before a goal and give the opposing team a chance to complete some passes before they start defending. We want kids to enjoy themselves and keep playing, we don’t want them in tears.

On the safety front, coaches and parents should encourage players to stay on their feet. Slide tackling for the sake of it should be frowned upon, especially if it collects “ball and all”, risking injury.

Lastly, coaches and managers should ensure players get a fair go at playing during every game. A Fair Game Time calculator and resources are available here.

Do you know your Spectator & Technical Areas?

Only teams and officials are allowed in Technical Areas. Please respect our Spectator and Technical areas at Kaleen and similar rules at away venues.

You can brush up on Spectator and Technical Areas here.
