U5-U9 Orientation Day

In preparation for the season starting on 4/5/2024, we are holding a U5-U9 Orientation Day on Saturday, 27th April at Kaleen.

At the orientation there will be information for parents on what game days involvewhere teams play and to practice how to put goals up like our U5-U7 goals and U8-U9 goals.

Also, coaches and managers will be given the team’s jerseys and equipment for the season.

The schedule for the day is below. Different age groups will line up in their teams at either side A and side B of the toilet block. The locations of side A and B can be found on this map.

  • 10:00 am: U5 Open (side A) & U6/U7 Girls (side B)
  • 10:45 am: U8/U9 Girls (side B)
  • 11:30 am: U6 Open (side A)
  • 12:15 pm: U8 Open (side B)
  • 1:00 pm: U7 Open (side A)
  • 1:45 pm: U9 Open (side B)

NB: the Club Shop will not be open on Orientation Day.

U10-U11 & U12-U18 Coaches/Managers Meetings – 27/4/2024

Also on Saturday, 27/4/2024, at Kaleen, Kat and Jane will be holding U10-U11 and U12-U18 Coaches and Managers meetings as below. This will include any kit and jersey collection.

  • 12:00 pm: U12-U18 Coaches/Managers Meeting (Central Hub)
  • 2:30 pm: U10-U11 Coaches/Managers Meeting (Central Hub)

The Central Hub is located near the toilet blocks, marked by a yellow CH circle.

U10-U18 Fixtures

Capital Football have published draft U10 to U18 draws, available on Dribl. You can check them out via the Web App, iOS app and Android app.

Coaches and managers should also acquaint themselves with the online team sheet process on Dribl for games. Guides on the team sheet process are here.

U5-U9 Fixtures

U5-U9 fixtures are being finalised. They will be published on our website early next week here on our fixtures page.

U5-U7 Coerver Skills Sessions

Belnorth FC are teaming up with Coerver Coaching ACT to deliver First Skills Sessions for U5 to U7 players.

U5 Open will have 4 sessions integrated with the first four weeks on Saturdays. U6 and U7 Girls will get a session in week 1, U6 Open on week 2 and U7 Open on week 3.

Three other sessions for U6 to U7 Girls/Open will be scheduled on a weeknights during the season, on dates to be advised, most likely on Fridays.

The sessions won’t just be for the players. Team coaches will be involved to help run the sessions.

Club Shop Open Sunday 28th April 9 am to 11 am

The Belnorth Club Shop will be open on Sunday 28th of April from 9 am to 11:00 am at Kaleen Playing Fields.

What do you need for the season?

With the junior season kick-off on the 4th of May, fast approaching, it is important players are kitted up ready for the season. Below are the essentials and are available from the Club Shop.

  • Shin pads/guards
  • Socks
  • Shorts

What about boots?

The Club Shop doesn’t stock boots, but we do have a boot bin available at Kaleen and the Club’s Buy/Swap/Sell Facebook Group to check out.

Otherwise, check out sports retailers like Rebel, Intersport, Kmart, Big W, Athlete’s Foot or outlet stores, along with online.

What about jerseys?

Team jerseys are club owned and will be distributed by team coaches/managers and must be returned at the end of the season.

Still need gear and can’t make Sunday?

The Club Shop will be open at Kaleen on game day mornings during the first few weeks of the season.

Belconnen Football Academy

The 2024 Belconnen Football Academy commences Monday 6th May and will consist of two blocks of 8 sessions each in Term 2 and Term 3.

The Belconnen Football Academy is a pathway to the Belconnen United Premier League. Term 2/Block 1 being prep for Kanga Cup and Term 3/Block 2 prep for BUFC development squads/trials.

Week 1 (6th May) will be a ‘try before you buy’ session, and is free of charge, following which communication will go out to all players inviting them to commit with payment information.

Who: U8-U12 Girls, U9-U11 Boys

What: Skills Acquisition Program

Coaches: Premier League licensed/accredited coaches

Where: Playing fields in Belconnen (TBA)

Cost: One Block: $220 (includes uniform*), Two Blocks: $375

Game Leader Courses

Becoming a Game Leader is the perfect first step for kids aged 12-13 to learn the basic skills of refereeing in a fun and positive club environment. Along with earning some pocket money!

The cost is $50 and includes the courseseason registration fees and a starter kit (Green Game Leader jerseywhistle and bag).

Upcoming courses are below:

  • Sunday 28/4/2024: 12-2 pm and 2:30-4:30 pm.

Kanga Cup Registrations are Open

The Kanga Cup is the largest International Youth Football Tournament south of the equator, held right here in Canberra from July 7th to the 12th! It is for U9 to U18 players and teams from all over the world.

Belnorth Football Club has a long association with the Kanga Cup, being the only club to have entered teams into the competition at every edition, along with being one of, if not the most successful. We’d encourage teams to be a part of that proud tradition.

Be Aware of Concussion

Concussion affects players at all age groups and levels. It is important to be aware of the risks and signs of concussion, and what to do if it happens.

Information about concussion can be found here, which includes videos for playersparents and coaches.

If in doubt, sit them out.

Coaching Course EOI

Interested in upping yours skills as a U10-U18 or seniors coach? Then the Foundation of Football coaching course is for you.

Capital Football are asking for Expressions of Interest in the course. Take the first step to improve your coaching here.

Child Supervision

Adults must be alert to and aware of risks and hazards and the potential for accidents and injury throughout training and competition.

Ensure that there is always appropriate supervision where the change room/toilet facility is accessible by adults or in ‘public’ change rooms/toilets.

Current Belnorth FC Vacancies

The below vital roles are currently vacant.

  • Small Side Games Registrar (volunteer/committee): Manages the registration and running of the U10 and U11 age groups along with general committee member duties (e.g. meetings, decisions)
  • Operations Manager (volunteer/committee): organisation of equipment (distribution, auditing and ordering). Trophy Liaison (coordination role with registrars). Presentation day organisation (coordination role with committee). Event Organisation (coordination role)
  • Vice President (volunteer/committee): Responsible for assisting the President.
  • Technical Director (paid): responsible for developing, implementing and nurturing player and coach development through sound program design and development for Belnorth. In assuming a technical leadership role, the TD provides mentorship to coaches and players in all programs and fosters good sportsmanship in a safe and fun environment. Further details here.
  • Club Changers (volunteer): Assist with implementing Club Changer modules.
  • General Helpers (Volunteers).
  • Coaches & Managers (Volunteers).

Every volunteer, whether a coach, manager, CVO, referee or committee member, helps the club tick.
