Belnorth FC Endorses Fund Football Fairly

Belnorth Football Club endorses Fund Football Fairly’s work and what it seeks. We are sharing with you an Open Letter explaining what the football community asks of the ACT Government and why. We invite you to read the open letter and participate in the campaign.

Fund Football Fairly is a grass roots campaign group working with Capital Football and local football clubs to secure improved ACT Government funding for football in Canberra.

Football is by far the largest participation sport in Canberra but receives a fraction of the Government funding received by other sports.

This is not fair!

Fund Football Fairly is seeking to change this by drawing on the support of the local football community to lobby the ACT Government for fairer funding in 2024 and beyond.

They have three funding requests:

  1. Deliver a significant capital works program to upgrade football facilities at local clubs
  2. Develop two dedicated football complexes, one northside and one southside
  3. Implement a Sports Voucher scheme

To help support this campaign you can:

  • Like/follow the Fund Football Fairly Facebook page
  • Sign the petition
  • Talk to your friends and teammates, your coach and your family about Fund Football Fairly
  • Ask ACT election candidates if they support Fund Football Fairly’s requests to support Football.

For more information, please see an article published in the Canberra Times (paywall) on 14 September 2024 about Fund Football Fairly: https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/8762772/act-soccer-group-fights-for-better-funding-ahead-of-election/
